You may use one workstation PC as a license server for the local network (LAN) by plugging your USB license key into that server and then configuring it to broadcast its license. Any other computer connected to the same LAN will then be able to (exclusively) use the server's license.

Configuration of microDimensions' Software

By default, our software does not search for network licenses. To enable support for network licenses, open the folder %APPDATA%\microDimensions and edit the INI file of the application for which you want to enable network licenses. The feature is enabled by setting the parameter General/queryLanForLicences to true

An example of a configuration file in which network licenses are enabled can be found below:

[General]
queryLanForLicences=true

Server Configuration

CodeMeter Runtime-Kit: The first step of the server configuration is to make sure that the "CodeMeter Runtime-Kit" is installed. This is the case if you previously installed any microDimensions product on the server. The installation can be verified by entering http://localhost:22350 in your web-browser's address bar and by checking if you reach the CodeMeter WebAdmin configuration page (pictured below). If the runtime-kit is not installed, please download the latest release of the runtime-kit at http://codemeter.com/us/service/downloads.html and install it on your server.

CodeMeter Server Configuration: In order to use a workstation PC as license server for the LAN, please

  1. go to the CodeMeter WebAdmin Server Configuration / Server Access page by entering http://localhost:22350/configuration/server_access.html in your web-browser's address bar,
  2. in the 'Network Server' group, check the 'Enable' check box, and
  3. click 'Apply'.

Now any PC connected to the Local Area Network (LAN) will have access to the licenses available on the workstation PC (e.g. from a dongle that is plugged in to the workstation PC).

Client Configuration

Usually clients do not require any additional configuration and CodeMeter should automatically detect license servers in the Local Area Network (LAN). If this is not working for some reason, you may have to support the CodeMeter software by explicitly adding the IP Address of the server on the client machine.

In order to enter the IP Address on a client machine, please

  1. make sure the microDimensions product that you want to use is installed on the client computer,
  2. go to the CodeMeter WebAdmin Network Configuration page by entering http://localhost:22350/configuration/server_search_list.html in your web-browser's address bar,
  3. click 'add new Server', enter the license server's IP address, and click 'Add'
  4. click 'Apply'.

The client should now be able to detect license attached to any of the servers present in the "Search Server List".
